Don't Repel Women With Your Home Decor

How a few throw pillows can triple your Repeat Play

Back in College, it didn't really matter how the apartment or frat house looked. Drunk college chicks would follow us home for some play no matter how many roommates we had, if our mattresses were on the floor, we had no sofa, and the fold-up card table (dining table) had a collection of leftover beer cans, lending that unmistakable stale beer odor to the entire place.

If your place still looks like that, you'd better be combing the college Freshman dorms for your dating pool, because that kind of living quarters will make most real women turn and run.

No matter what your budget, there are a few improvements you could make to get your place more presentable and give you some style, and women love a man with style. You don't have to go overboard, especially not all at once. These are just some of the things about a man's home that can impress or repulse a woman.

Let's start in the living room. When she walks into your place, what does she see? Here is a common look for a guy's living room: An enormous television set, mounted strategically on the floor or on a low table. There is a multitude of other essential TV gadgetry including DVR, cable box, surround sound systems, speakers, and maybe even a video game system with accessories. CD's DVD's and games are stacked on the floor or on a nearby shelf in full view for easy access. The only piece of furniture in the room is a futon or maybe a gigantic puffy sectional sofa from the 1980's that the guy inherited from his Mom, and it's facing directly accross from the room's crown jewel, the monster TV.

That may sound good to you, and while a woman may not be offended by this sight, it won't exactly make her feel hot for you, either. Here are some suggestions:

1. If you really want that gargantuan flat screen plasma TV, try to get it mounted on the wall and enclosed within a cabinet to keep the TV out of sight and not the room's main focus. All other electronics should also be enclosed in a cabinet with doors to keep them off the floor and out of sight. Media such as CD's and DVD's should not be on an exposed shelf, but inside a media cabinet with doors so they are also out of sight. These things are not "pretty" and should be kept in a place not visible to the woman. Organize.com has a lot of options for electronics and media storage. If you have to go with regular shelves, put your things in media boxes before putting on the shelves. It just looks better. Also, if you like to play video games, make sure your system is nowhere to be found. Women don't like video games like men do, and they won't understand. Seeing a gaming console may turn her off. One exception: the Nintendo Wii. Women seem to like the Wii because it's different than other game systems. Don't let her play yours, though. That's not why you brought her there. Unless, of course, she's up for some naked Wii. Loser goes down.

2. Try to get some real furniture in there. If all you can afford is a futon, get a good one with a wood frame that at least some resemblance to a real couch. Try to get a couple of different pieces, and have them facing each other and not the TV, separated by a table. A woman who sees this will think she died and went to Home Makeover heaven. Add a couple of throw pillows and you're set. You know why they call them throw pillows? So you can throw a couple down on the floor and not get rug burn on your ass while she's riding you hard right on your living room floor.

3. Art and Accessories- don't go crazy here, and definitely don't go girly, but if you can add a few things to your place that are purely for decoration, it shows you have some style, and as we said, women love a man with style. Remember, those pizza box things should go in groups. Whatever you choose, make sure it's something that fits with the style of your place. Stay away from stuffed moose heads, but don't get cream puff glittery crap either. Another asset that helps set the mood, maybe more than anything else are candles. I can't say more about candles. They set the mood, decor and sexual tension of every situation. Why do you think they're so important in restaurants? Wine and candles are instant matchmakers and mood setters! But what kind of candle are right? You can't go wrong with candles but some are more effective than others: aromatherapy candles, tealight candles, scented candles...just to name a few types. The best place I have found is Candle Bay for the best selection. Here's another hint. Change your candles often. If a woman sees you lighting a well-burned candle to set the mood, she'll know it's part of your routine for all the women you bring home. If it looks new, she'll think you're lighting it just to impress her.

Now, where are you going to have dinner, if you're so bold to cook? On that fold-up card table that you and the boys played poker on until 3:00am? How do you think she's going to perceive that? You don't need to spend a lot of money on a table and chairs. There are great options to choose from at TheFurniture.com. And don't use mismatched plates you've collected from your favorite sporting events. You need a set that actually matches. I know this seems like a little thing, and is, but women will notice if you serve her a glass of wine in a real stemware glass instead of a plastic cup.

The Bathroom- In here, it's not as important to have great decor, as long as it's clean. Make sure that you have a clean shower curtain, extra clean towels, and did we mention the word clean? You can also use aromatherapy candles or incense for the bathroom, but this is not really necessary unless you like to nail her in the shower. In that case, candles can provide some mood lighting and romance, an unexpected bonus for her.

The Bedroom- No more mattress on the floor, or worse, the single bed you used as a kid. Time to get a real bed, you are going to need it. If you can, get a matching bedroom set, or pieces that look good together. Your bed, dresser, and night stand should look like you intended for them all to be in the same room. If your place looks like you got things here and there, and never really bought furniture, it won't look as good. This may seem like an unimportant thing, and truthfully, mismatched furniture won't keep you from getting laid. Also, I don't know if I really need to say this, but no pussy posters on the walls. If you are older than high school age, they should have no place in your apartment. You've got the real thing now.
